Introduction

The Symbiosis Institute of Design Entrance Exam is conducted by the Symbiosis Institute of Design as part of the Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED). This design aptitude test is conducted by Symbiosis International University to offer admissions to aspirants in BDes programmes offered at Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID). It is to be noted that from 2019 onwards, admission to BDes courses offered at Symbiosis School of Planning, Architecture and Design (SSPAD), Nagpur is also done through the SEED exam. The Symbiosis Institute of Design Entrance Exam was previously known as SET (Symbiosis Entrance Exam) and conducted by Symbiosis International University. This design course admissions evaluates candidates on spheres such as color, geometry, visual observations, general design awareness, creative thinking abilities, and awareness of Indian culture, craft, traditions and more. The Symbiosis Institute of Design Entrance Exam conducted by SIU comprises objective type questions with multiple choice.

Eligibility Criteria

As per the eligibility criteria of the Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED), candidates appearing for this exam have to meet the age limit, educational qualifications, and the qualifying exam that are accepted by SID. Only those candidates who meet the eligibility criteria only should apply for the entrance exam. The eligibility criteria for Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED) 2023 comprise the qualifying exam, age limit and minimum marks required for admissions. Students Passed Standard XII (10+2) or equivalent examination from any recognized Board with at least 50% of marks or 10+3 diploma approved by State Board of technical Education with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grade

Additional Advantage

  • Aspirants who possess the Creative Aptitude and Skills required to pursue Design education will be preferred
  • Apart from this, any candidate who has created or maintained a relevant portfolio will be given preference.

Application Process

Step 1 Registration

Log on to the Official website https://www.sid.edu.in/ and click on ‘New User? Register Now’ tab.


Read all the ‘Terms and Conditions thoroughly and click on the ‘I Agree’ tab. Complete the registration process

Step 2 Filling the form

The next step is to fill details in the application form for Symbiosis Institute of Design with more information like personal, academic, communication and others along with the required details

Step 3 Uploading documents

The candidates must upload the relevant documents in the application form as per the required format, here are the documents required


latest passport size photograph (not more than three months old) in jpg, png, or gif format and in between 10 and 150 kb size

Step 4 Make the payment

The final step is to fill the application fee, which is INR 2950/- (INR 1950/- for SEED & INR 1000/- for SID). Candidates can pay application fee through net banking, credit, and debit cards

Step 5 Submit the SEED Exam application form

Once all the above-mentioned steps are complete, candidates will be sent an email confirmation that contains their application number the SEED Admit Card would be issued to only those candidates who have received this email confirmation and candidates also need to register for admission at specific institutes of Symbiosis International University in which they want to secure admission.
