Introduction

The National Institute of Design Aptitude Test is conducted by the National Institute of Design, which is commonly known as NID DAT. This test consists of a two-tier design entrance test that includes a prelims exam and the main exam. The entrance test is conducted every year at the national level to shortlist students for B.Des and M.Des admission offered by NID campuses. It is conducted to assess candidates’ knowledge, skill, and behavioural abilities. The NID admission process is wholly based on candidates’ performance in the National Institute of Design Aptitude Test. The 4-years BDes programmes are offered at various campuses of NID which are located in Ahmedabad, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Assam. The overall difficulty level of the exam is moderate. Most candidates find the pictorial and diagram section of the National Institute of Design Aptitude Test to be very tricky.

Eligibility Criteria

As per the eligibility criteria of NID DAT, candidates appearing for this exam have to meet the age limit, educational qualifications, and the qualifying exam that are accepted by NID. Only those candidates who meet the eligibility criteria only should apply for the entrance exam. Age Criteria

Aspirants up to 20 years of age on or before June 30, 2002, are eligible to apply


Candidates who belong to reserved categories get an age relaxation of three years PwD category candidates who were born on or after July 1, 1997, are eligible to apply for admission

Educational Qualification

Students who have passed or will appear for the class 12 examination in any stream in the academic year 2021–22 from any recognized board, such as CBSE, IB, ICSE, or their equivalent are considered eligible and can apply for NID DAT

The final step is to fill the application fee of NID DAT which will be done online and Applicants can pay the NID DAT application fee through net banking, credit, and debit cards


The Fee for General category students is ₹3000 while those who fall under SC/ ST categories will have to pay Rs. 1500.

Submit the form after checking for errors and Print the NID DAT application form
