Introduction

Sports Fitness and Leisure are such sports that primarily focus on physical fitness improvement of the person taking part and fun and social involvement is what the focus is on rather than the competition or winning. These sports are not played for professional gains but rather to achieve physical fitness and are less stressful in nature both physically and mentally for the participants. The commitment towards the sport or sports by the players is very low as these games are held for recreational purposes and not to get into competitions. Leisure sports are differentiated from professional sports as they do not require any rigorous training or achieving a strong skill set for the sport but only enjoyment of the participants and somewhat physical development.

 

Physical Education is the theoretical and practical knowledge of Physical activities and physical fitness that is given to children in schools and colleges or even to adults. physical education helps a person to gain the ability to perform and enjoy day to day physical activities with ease. A good physical education forms the bases of a child’s development toward a good career in the Sports, Physical Education, Fitness & Leisure Industry. Physical education helps develop the necessary skills that help them in future to gain momentum as an athlete, coach, trainer or in any other occupation in the Industry.

                The Career paths in the Sports and Fitness Industry are mostly divided into two categories, Athletic and Non-Athletic. What are the different non athlete Jobs in Physical Education, Sports, Fitness & Leisure Industry?

 1. Sports Coach:

The Job of a sports coach is very important as it is the job to shape the future of sports in the country as a result, the job of a sports coach has become very lucrative and important. It is a tough career at the beginning but the scope of the career is enormous.

The Sports Coach is required to help the young talents to polish raw talent and shape them into a champion athlete who can compete from toe to toe with the professionals. A good Sports Coach is very much required by any aspiring professional sports player because even the most gifted player may never polish their talent and reach their complete potential without the guidance of a coach.

The Sports Coach have a keen eye to recognise the faults and errors in a player’s form by carefully analysing their performance and coming up with a valid solution to fix the problem so that the player can perform at their complete potential.

Any Sport needs a high amount of stamina and durability, so the sports coach also needs to be highly efficient in being active throughout the day. Accordingly, they must also train the students to be energetic and full of stamina.

 2. Sports Administrator:

Sports administrators form an important part of organised sports funding bodies and sports development’s local authority. As the name suggests, Sports administrators do a similar job to the administrators in other industries. Their primary focus is on organising events and running the sports facility they are working in. 

They are required to do routine admin work, manage complex projects for the growth of the sector, create budgets and allocate resources. They also need to promote sports to young children such as in schools or colleges, hold under 15 or under 18 sporting events at a local level, etc.

The Job of a Sports Administrator is to manage administrative tasks for sports clubs or school sports departments by managing budgets, organizing practice schedules, and hiring staff. The sports administrator are required to plan fundraisers, schedule practice times and source equipment as needed.

 3.  Fitness trainer:

A person who provides training and guidance of fitness programs to individuals and groups is called a Fitness trainer. A fitness trainer is also referred to as a fitness instructor or a personal trainer. A Fitness Trainer, or Fitness Instructor, engages clients in exercise routines and weight loss programs and provides fitness guidance to help clients improve their physical condition by gaining muscle or losing fat. Help the Clients reach whatever their Individual goal of the client is.

It is the responsibility of the Fitness trainer to accurately assess clients at the start of their journey, and then create reports and track them regarding the client’s progress, and help them in developing their fitness levels. The Fitness Instructor must be passionate and driven for health, wellness, and fitness in the general audience and assist the clients in achieving their personal goals.

The Fitness Instructor needs to stay updated with the latest trends in the Fitness and Health Industry and provide solutions to your client’s fitness needs and goals. The Market for Fitness Instructors is highly competitive, you need to distinguish yourself from and crowd to stand out, to do so you need to be an outstanding fitness instructor with vast knowledge and skills. Alongside you would also need to be a team player to work well with other fitness instructors at the workplace.

 4. Sports Masseur:

A Sports Masseur, sometimes also known as Sports Massage Therapist is an expert who is highly skilled in treating sporting injuries, advising on injury prevention and supporting rehabilitation. The Sports Masseur is a highly skilled and knowledgeable person in the field of physical techniques and physiotherapies.

They are Medical professionals using their expertise in the field of sports to help sports players or teams to recover better from tiredness or injuries, or helping injured and on-shelf players with rehabilitation.

A Sports Massage Therapist requires to provide an immediate response when any injuries occur during any sports or exercise process and help the injured player to recover and rehabilitate till they are fully recovered. The Sports Masseur is required to provide advice and support to help prevent injuries so that injuries do not occur in the first place. The Sports Massage therapist is required to have an education or experience in the medical field and must know different pain and stress relief techniques such as neuromuscular, deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, sports therapy, and PNF stretching.

The Sports Massage therapist is required to manipulate the soft tissues of the injured player to help them in pain relief and recovery or even better, by manipulating the soft tissues of the players they will be more relaxed and this would prevent more injuries.

The Sports Massage Therapist’s job also requires them to have complete knowledge of different massages and know when to use them, such as Pre sports massage or post sports massage. They also need to identify if any player is injured before the game or even after it and manage common sporting injuries by themselves.

 5. Referee:

A referee is also known as an umpire or a judge for Different types of sports. The duties of a referee are tough, a referee has to closely monitor the game to call out the players if they violate the rules and gives the final verdict when there is any dispute among the players on the field.

One of the many job roles of the referee is to arrive early at the game to check on the players and ensure that they are ready for the game and in fit and fine condition. They have to make important decisions about the safety of players on the field and if a player gets injured or hurt during the game, it is the referee’s responsibility to stop the game.

Other important duties of a referee include, score keeping, time keeping and ensuring fair play by all the sides.

 6. Sports nutritionist:

A sports nutritionist designs diet and nutrition plans that help the athletes to gain proper nutrition to keep up with their strength and training programs. These plans are created with keeping in mind the typical body type and energy requirements of the athletes and provide sportspeople with the necessary energy boost while being suitable.

It is also a responsibility of a sports nutritionist to suggest the right supplements suitable for the hectic training and travelling schedules that athletes usually are a subject of. They also have to possess motivational and counselling skills to help the athlete stay on track with their diet.
