Summary

Testing and Validation Engineers should have a minimum of BE (Electronics) certified training (course aligned to ELE/Q1601 published by the Electronics Sector Skills Council of India).

Job Description

The following are some of the responsibilities of a Testing and Validation Engineer:
Understanding the IC's architecture
Using tools and software to conduct structural and functional tests
Detecting manufacturing flaws and putting reliability tests through their paces
Validation of the device and its components as a system

Key Competencies

System-on-chip (SOC) design knowledge
Parameters and specifications for structural and functional testing are a strong suit.
Basic component knowledge includes diode, transformer, LED, photo transistor, capacitor, resistor, inductor, thermistor, and integrated circuits (ICs).
Knowledge of semiconductor physics, CMOS transistors, diodes, triodes, and other electronic components, as well as how to test them.
For FPGA and ASIC, knowledge of computer architecture and process design is required.

Salary

Experience-wise	Salary
For freshers	INR 12,000 to INR 18,000 per month
For candidates with 4 to 6 years of experience	INR 30,000 to INR 75,000 per month

Current Situation

In 2015, the Indian semiconductor design market is anticipated to be worth $14.5 billion.
The Electronic Components sector is predicted to grow by 19 percent through 2022, outpacing India's GDP, according to the "Human Resource and Skill Requirements in the Electronics & IT Hardware Sector (2022)" report. Active Components is one of the top 14 sub-sectors with a strong employment potential, according to India's Electronics Sector Skills Council. This will have a good effect on the job roles in this industry.
According to the IMaCS Analysis, the need for human resources in the Electronic Components industry is expected to increase from 1,79,000 in 2012 to 8,34,000 in 2022, a 6,55,000 increase.
A Testing and Validation Engineer is one of the employment roles that will benefit greatly from all of these developments.
